Terms of Use

Published · Last updated

These terms cover your use of recoverymeet.com ("RecoveryMeet", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What RecoveryMeet is

RecoveryMeet is a free directory that lists when and where recovery meetings take place. We are a listing service only. We do not run, host, lead or attend meetings, we keep no attendance records, and we cannot confirm or sign attendance for anyone.

RecoveryMeet is not a treatment provider and does not give medical, psychological, legal or other professional advice. Nothing on the site is a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

Not an emergency service

If you or someone else is in danger, call 911. For a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. For free, confidential treatment referrals, call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357. RecoveryMeet does not operate any of these services.

No affiliation, and whose names these are

RecoveryMeet is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc., the A.A. General Service Office, any A.A. intergroup or central office, Narcotics Anonymous World Services, Inc., Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc., or SMART Recovery, and none of them is responsible for this site.

Alcoholics Anonymous, AA, A.A. and the Big Book are trademarks of Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. Narcotics Anonymous, NA, Al-Anon, Alateen and SMART Recovery are trademarks of their respective owners. We use these names only to describe the meetings we list, and we do not use any fellowship's logo or symbols. We do not reproduce fellowship literature; where it helps, we link to the official source.

Meeting information

Meeting listings are compiled from publicly available meeting lists published by each fellowship's local service offices, such as AA intergroups and central offices. We do not independently verify each listing. Groups change their times, formats and rooms, move, or stop meeting, and a listing can be out of date or wrong.

Before you go, check with the group or the local intergroup when you can. Use the information at your own judgment. We do not guarantee that any meeting will take place as listed, that a venue is accessible, or that any meeting suits your needs.

Corrections

If a listing is wrong or out of date, email [email protected] with the page link and what should change. We review corrections in good faith. Listings reflect meeting information that has already been made public, and we decide what the directory includes.

Respect for anonymity

Anonymity matters to the people who attend these meetings. You agree not to use RecoveryMeet to identify, track, record, harass or contact anyone who attends a meeting, other than through the contact details a group or office has chosen to publish.

Acceptable use

  • Do not copy or harvest the directory in bulk, or access the site with automated tools beyond what ordinary browsing and search engine crawling need.
  • Do not interfere with the site's security or operation, or try to reach parts of it that are not public.
  • Do not use the site for anything unlawful, or to send unsolicited messages to groups or offices.

Other websites

The site links to other services, such as maps, video meeting services and intergroup websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Links to other sites carry no endorsement.

Our content

The site's design, text and arrangement belong to RecoveryMeet. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes and share links to it. Meeting facts belong to no one; the selection and presentation of them on this site are ours.

Disclaimer

The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RecoveryMeet will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its listings. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Your responsibility

If you misuse the site or break these terms, you agree to be responsible for the claims, losses and costs that result, to the extent the law allows.

Questions and disputes

If you have a concern or a legal notice, email [email protected] first. We will try to resolve it with you directly and in good faith.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
